I Have An Emergency
I have a friend in Rio who is very sweet, fun and generous. She is full of life. Recently, we were out with a group of friends having cocktails on a Sunday night. She came with a couple of her friends and her husband stayed home. She told us about her previous night and how she was out late, partying, dancing, and feeling less energetic for a full night ahead. Understood. We've all been there. Honest. We've all had to break this kind of news to our friends. More people arrived and we began to eat and drink and get lively. I was engaged in a conversation when suddenly this friend of mine came over in a panic to say, "I've got an emergency and need to go home." I said, "An emergency?! What is it? Everything okay?" And then she proceeded to tell me that it wasn't anything but her husband is at home and she needs to go be with him. I didn't know what to think..."Emergency? OK." Not exactly the word I would choose under the circumstance but it was here ticket out. I know I'm a stickler for staying true to my word and this case isn't any different.
